CLITHEROE footballer Louis Cross has just won the Independent Schools’ FA Under-16 Player of the Year Award.
The 16-year-old Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School pupil, who is on the books of Blackpool, plays as a central defender, and was presented with a splendid glass trophy by QEGS Headmaster Simon Corns at the West Park Road school.
The award is given to the most outstanding footballer nationally for his age group who attend independent schools.
It is not only based on Louis’ performances on the field, but also for attitude and approach on and off the field.
Corns said: “I am delighted that Louis has won this prestigious award.
“He is not only a very good footballer, but also a very personable young man who has an excellent future ahead of him.
“My colleagues in the PE Department at Queen Elizabeth’s are thrilled at his success.”
