Two wins in four days moved Clitheroe to within five points of Evo-Stik First Division North leaders Scarborough Athletic.
The Blues are now seventh in the table after a solitary goal settled the game against bottom side Burscough at Victoria Park.
Bradley Carroll scored the all important goal in the 25th minute when converting from the penalty spot to hit double figures for the season.
Simon Haworth’s side, who have now won five of their last six games in all competitions, almost extended their lead late on but Kurt Willoughby’s free kick struck the upright.
On Twitter, the Shawbridge boss said: “Great 3 points tonight, ugly game of football but totally dominant, maybe should have had a few more goals but delighted with the points.”
Goalscorer Carroll added: “Massive result tonight! Happy to score and get my 10th of the season!”
The Blues travel to Droylsden on Saturday and host AFC Fylde in the Lancashire Challenge Cup on Wednesday.
