Clarets skipper left out of England squad

Clarets captain Tom Heaton has been left out of the England squad to face Germany and Holland.

Heaton had been named in the last four squads by coach Roy Hodgson, without making his debut, and was also selected for a get-together at St George's Park last month.

However, Hodgson has opted to recall Southampton keeper Fraser Forster, who has kept six clean sheets I'm 10 games since returning from a broken kneecap, suffered against the Clarets at St Mary's a year ago.

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been handed his first England call-up, while Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has returned to the squad after returning to injury.

England squad:

Goalkeepers: Butland, Forster, Hart.

Defenders: Bertrand, Cahill, Clyne, Jagielka, Rose, Smalling, Stones, Walker.

Midfielders: Alli, Barkley, Dier, Drinkwater, Henderson, Lallana, Milner, Sterling.

Forwards: Kane, Sturridge, Vardy, Walcott, Welbeck.
