East Lancashire League champions Rimington have had a steady start to the season, but it’s hard to say whether this was a point won or two lost.
With a decimated squad, a new-look side took on one of their bitter rivals, Mill Hill.
The hosts almost took an early lead, but Fagan’s effort was brilliantly tipped away. From the corner, debutant Chris Bailey fired just over. Dinsdale then went close with a long range shot, before having a header well saved.
The visiting striker screwed an effort wide, but on the half hour, Rimington took the lead when Dinsdale won a header from a corner, and Scott Byrom lashed the ball in.
Dinsdale then sent a shot just wide and Bailey also went close before the break.
In the second half, Kershaw produced a double point-blank save to maintain his side’s lead, while Dinsdale was thwarted at the other end. Bailey was inches away from turning in Dinsdale’s cross, and Mill Hill took advantage with six minutes left when a corner was only partially cleared and a defender’s shot was deflected past Kershaw.
