Burnley have increased their initial offer for Derby County midfielder Jeff Hendrick.

But they are again likely to fail with their latest bid.

The Clarets have already had a £3.5m offer for the 24-year-old turned down by the Rams but have not been deterred, and returned with an improved deal for the Republic of Ireland international, who shone at Euro 2016, starting all four games for Martin O'Neill's side.

Derby felt that first offer was well below their valuation, and I understand this latest gambit will also not tempt Derby to cash in.

Burnley have struggled in the transfer market so far this summer, having also had two offers, the second worth £4m, for Brighton midfielder Dale Stephens rejected, while Charlton Athletic have turned down a £900,000 bid for goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The Clarets, however, could unveil Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson early next week after agreeing a £2.5m deal for the Charlton and Iceland winger, which could rise to £3.5m.
