The former England U21 international becomes the Clarets’ third signing of the summer after agreeing a deal that could keep him at Turf Moor until 2017.

Pinner-born Sordell, 23, began his career with the Watford Academy, where he quickly progressed to the first team following early loan spells at Wealdstone and Tranmere Rovers.

At Vicarage Road he scored 21 goals in 75 appearances before joining Owen Coyle’s Bolton in a big-money move in January 2012.

Sordell made a total 29 appearances at The Reebok Stadium, scoring eight goals and featuring heavily in the club’s seventh place finish in the 12/13 campaign.

He then spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Charlton Athletic, where he played 35 times and scored eight times for the Addicks, including a hat-trick against Sheffield Wednesday.

Sordell’s move to Turf Moor reunites him with former Watford boss Sean Dyche and the striker will link up with his new team mates today.
