Burnley centre back James Tarkowski’s odds of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020 have widened to 20/1 after his omission from the latest camp.

The Three Lions open their qualifying campaign for the Qatar 2022 World Cup next week, with home games against San Marino and Poland, either side of a trip to Albania.

But Tarkowski, whose two England caps came in 2018, was again left out, despite his outstanding club form.

BetVictor price the former Brentford man at 20/1 to make the tournament squad, although he now seems a long way down the pecking order behind Eric Dier, John Stones, Tyrone Mings, Harry Maguire and Conor Coady, with right back Kyle Walker having also played in a three at the back for England.

Indeed, the uncapped Ezri Konsa and Ben Godfrey are better priced to make the squad, along with former Clarets teammate Michael Keane, Ben White, Fikayo Tomori, Chris Smalling and Rob Holding.

Dwight McNeil, named in the England Under 21 squad for the group stages of the UEFA European Championships, is also 20/1 to make the senior squad in the summer, while Charlie Taylor is 33/1.

Nick Pope, again selected by Southgate, looks a certainty for Euro 2020, and is priced 1/8.
