At a time of year when most cricketers are turning their attention to the annual indoor nets at a local sports centre, Clitheroe Cobras embarked upon something quite out of the ordinary by beginning their pre-season training with a visit to the home of cricket.

Thirteen local youngsters undertook a tour of the Lord’s Pavilion, Museum and Ground which was then followed by an intense coaching session at the MCC Indoor School.

Cobras Chairman Farouk Hussain commented: “It has been a wonderful experience for the children to learn about the history of Lords, walk through the Long Room, see the Ashes urn, visit the England dressing room as well as to be coached by the MCC staff.

“I am certain it is a day that the youngsters and the accompanying adults, some of whom were a little emotional upon entering the Long Room, will remember for the rest of their lives.”
