PENDLE and St Michael and St John’s continued their rich tradition of cricketing success as they were triumphant in two recent Ribble Valley Kwik Cricket competitions.

Whalley Primary, Pendle Primary and St Michael and St Johns Primary School took part in a triangular girls’ competition at Ribblesdale Wanderers.

Pendle eventually came out on top, helped by two star county cricketers, and qualified for the county final, which unfortunately they couldn’t attend.

The boys’ competition was attended by 13 schools, whittled down to four teams who played off in semi-finals. Langho St Leonards beat a competitive Edisford side and St Michaels and St John’s easily saw off Brookside. In the final Langho batted first and, although they scored well, they lost too many wickets and finished on 201.

St Michael and St John’s were never in danger of losing the match and went through to the county final, played yesterday at Radcliffe CC.
