Charity cricket tournament for former Burnley favourite Parkinson
The Gary Parkinson Trophy – named in honour of the former Clarets and North End favourite, who is currently in hospital after suffering a stroke – is a four-team Twenty20 cricket tournament to be played between Preston, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley – all former clubs of Parkinson.
Currently scheduled to play are Graham Alexander, David Eyres, Ian Bryson and Simon Davey, with plenty more to be added to the list.

Hide AdThe cricket tournament and football match is aimed at raising funds for the Gary Parkinson Fund, which will assist and aid his on-going care. The Twenty20 tournament will take place on Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Preston Cricket Club’s West Cliff ground, and players past and present will be joined by guest stars from each club to play a three-game tournament featuring semi-finals and a final. All the proceeds raised from gate receipts go to the fund.
Admission has been set at an affordable rate of £5 for adults and £2 for juniors for the whole day, with passes for going in and out during the day available.
