CLITHEROE Cobras Under 11s defeated Euxton by 40 runs in their latest league fixture to add the league title to their cup final triumph from earlier in the season.

Euxton batted first and added runs at a steady rate, but nagging bowling from Matt Nielsen, Dan Kellington and the explosive pace of Frankie Jackson, backed up by clinical fielding from Jack Morris, meant that the home side were only able to post a nett score of 62.

In reply, the Cobras got off to a slow start, but the power hitting of Sam Mulligan, who cleared the ropes on several occasions, gave the Cobras innings much needed impetus.

Jackson wasn’t going to take the foot off the pedal as he also tore into the Euxton bowlers, regularly hitting to the boundary as the Cobras romped to an emphatic victory, and in doing so secured their eighth successive league and cup double.
