Clitheroe Cobras ease to knockout cup victory
Clitheroe Cobras defeated Cherry Tree to lift the Under 14 knockout cup at Chatburn Road in front of a bumper crowd.
Clitheroe's bowlers took control from the start. Accurate bowling from Andy Ramsden and Sam Bristol, backed up with brilliant fielding, restricted the Blackburn side to 21 runs after a third of their overs.
Kristian Collinge ripped out the Cherry Tree middle order, taking 3-10 in a three-over spell and along with a miserly spell from Josh Dean, ensured the Cherry Tree tail didn't wag.
Chasing 78 to win, a second wicket stand of 50 between Hugh Graham and Sam Richardson laid the foundations.
Once Graham departed, Richardson was joined at the crease by George Drake and the pair saw the Cobras home with eight overs to spare.
The Cobras now go forward to represent the Ribblesdale League in this year's Lancashire Cup.
