Clitheroe Cobras are certainly bucking the trend of falling members and fewer junior teams as far as cricket is concerned.
The Ribblesdale League outfit are in a stronger position than ever - in this their 10th Anniversary year
A vibrant primary school section is backed up by a well-populated girls and secondary age group set up.
The club’s continued county-wide ascendancy is further underlined by the incredible achievement of 11 boys and girls playing for Lancashire this season from Under 11s to Under 15s.
An intensive winter coaching programme delivered by club coaches has meant that the Cobras can field its own Red Rose XI - a feat not to be taken lightly, according to the club’s chairman Farouk Hussain.
He expressed his delight: “We always push our youngsters to aim high and achieve higher, but this season has been quite unprecedented.
“I doubt if there’s another club in the county that can proudly boast such a fantastic record.
“We are extremely proud of all 11 of our boys and girls for achieving county recognition and hope they go on to even bigger and better things.”
The players are: Annabel Mayson, Charlie Dewhurst, Dominic Stuart, Eleanor Graham, Harry Lang, Josh Stamford, Martha Smith, Omar Hussain, Sam Jackson, Sam Mulligan and Saphi Stamford.
