Bennett brothers sign fight deal with new manager

TWO undefeated Burnley boxers have recently signed contracts with a new manager.

Brothers Wayne and Lee Bennett signed their contracts with Damian Jones from Astley VIP Boxing last week, and they are now looking forward to continuing the excellent start they have made to their professional careers.

Damian said: “I have been training Wayne and Lee for around 12 months now and I am delighted that they have decided to sign management contracts with me.

“They are both talented boxers and have made good starts to their careers and I am looking forward to seeing how far they can go in the sport over the next couple of years.”

Welterweight Lee will be first in action, with his next contest taking place at Colne Municipal Hall next Friday when he takes on 100-fight veteran Carl Allen.

Damien added: “This will be Lee’s return to the ring after a lengthy absence caused by injury but training has gone well and Lee is looking forward to performing in front of his home town fans again following his debut win at the same venue last year.”

Brother Wayne has not been so lucky, and his scheduled contest at Halifax next Saturday has been cancelled after Wayne suffered an injury in training.

The light-welterweight prospect has won his first three contests and was starting to make a name for himself with his crowd-pleasing style of fighting, but hopefully this will only be a temporary delay to his march up the rankings and he will be back in action again soon.

Tickets for Lee’s fight at Colne Municipal Hall are available from Lee or from the Burnley ABC Gym on Albert Street (near Turf Moor) priced £30.
