Our children’s tsar wants to ban parents from smacking their children. What ideas has she for reasoning with a three-year-old intent on danger?
Parents do not like smacking their child but we all know from experience that occasionally it can be necessary for their own sake. A totally different concept from child abuse.
Instead of meddling in the family lives of decent, hard-working families, maybe more time and energy could be spent in training social workers and other “professionals” so they can actually save a child from abuse or neglect.
You only have to think of Baby P, Victoria Climbie and vulnerable young girls groomed for paedophile sex rings, for example, to see there is room for improvement.
