If I may please comment on a letter in the Burnley Express, dated Friday, October 3rd, from a Bank Hall resident.
The letter was titled, “Please will someone answer the phone?” and the contents of the letter is about how difficult it is to get through to Street Scene on the phone.
I have got to say that it is true, as I myself also have had the same problem.
In fact, I wrote a similar letter myself last year about this.
The reply I got was it is to do with staffing levels along with an apology.
Well let me tell you it is still the same one year on.
Then in the letter this resident goes on to let us know that it’s the same when you ring the police on the 101 number. A problem getting in touch with councillors is also something that I have experienced.
All in all, this is a very true and accurate statement from this resident.
Now as a full council tax-payer I have got to as why are we not getting the services that we are paying for? I would also ask about something on another subject and that is if we are going to have more cuts to policing as published in a previous article in the Burnley Express, is there going to be a reduction in our council tax?
The answer is no I’m afraid. In fact, this council intend to put it up and most probably expect the residents of our town to do the work themselves as half of them do already.
