HERE’s a chance to win a great souvenir of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, courtesy of Ribble Valley’s long-serving MP Nigel Evans.
He has managed to secure a limited edition commemorative House of Commons Diamond Jubilee Collection plate, which he is now offering as a prize for youngsters in his constituency.
Made of fine bone china by the renowned English firm of William Edwards, of Stoke-on-Trent, the plate has been created exclusively for the Palace of Westminster, home to the House of Commons – of which Mr Evans is Deputy Speaker – and the House of Lords.
Its unique design has been inspired by the central lobby within the Palace of Westminster, and in the centre it carries a golden silhouette of the Queen and the year, 2012. Only 350 of these commemorative plates have been made, so not even all of Parliament’s 650 MPs could have one!
Mr Evans hopes that whoever wins the plate will treasure it as a reminder of the diamond jubilee and perhaps one day pass it on to their own children.
The competition is open to children aged 16 and under and living within Evans’ Ribble Valley constituency.
To enter, complete the following phrase using not more than 20 words: “I will always remember the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee because...”
The closing date for entries is noon on Thursday June 7th and entries should be sent to: Jubilee Plate Competition, Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, 3 King Street, Clitheroe, BB7 2EW.
Remember to include the entrant’s name, address and the phone number of a parent or guardian. Usual Clitheroe Advertiser and Times competition rules apply.
