Where should Longridge’s new zebra crossing be sited?

Longridge Town Council is to push for a zebra crossing on Market Place, not where the county council wants it on King Street.

And if Lancashire County Council insists on King Street, the town council – though understanding the county’s thinking – is to ask for the county council to look again at the Market Place site.

At last week’s meeting, Longridge councillors felt that if the Market Place option was not possible, the money spent on what they felt would be a ‘pointless’ King Street crossing would be better used on their preferred zebra crossing options in the town.

These would be on lower Berry Lane near to Booths or on Derby Road near to the hospital, sites which had also been put forward by members of the public.
