Whalley’s main street is flooded with shopkeepers fighting to keep the water out of their premises.

Whalley Wine Shop and Cosgroves clothes shop on King Street, Whalley, are just two of the businesses affected by the flooding.

Observers have described the scene in Whalley as “horrific” with the village’s main street turned into a river.

Businesses are trying to defend their premises with sandbags.

Waddington has also been virtually cut off by the flooding with firefighters working to make the area safe.

As already reported firefighters have been dealing with a car stuck in flood water on Clitheroe Road, Waddington, and there is flooding affecting the electrics at Pig Hill, Great Mitton,

There is also currently flooding at Clough Lane, Simonstone, Longsight Road, Langho, and Sarmatian Fold, Ribchester, Whalley Road, Barrow, Taylor Street, Clitheroe, Accrington Road, Whalley, Sydney Avenue, Whalley, Brookside Close, Whalley, Pendleton Road, Wiswell and Waddow Grove, Waddington.

Whalley Road leading into Clitheroe is also particularly bad.
