Motorists suffered rush-hour misery yesterday with huge delays due to a fallen tree.

Drivers travelling along Portfield Bar, Whalley, were hit by the tailbacks after the tree fell across the road.

The incident happened at 5-50 p.m. on Thursday (yesterday). Police and officers from Lancashire County Council’s Highways Department were called to the scene to investigate the traffic delays. The tree was removed at 8-20 p.m. Police confirmed no one was injured.
