Residents in Clitheroe are being urged to be on their guard and extra vigilant after three house raids in the past three days.

Thieves gained entry into two houses on Pimlico Road and one on Moorland Road, escaping with jewellery and electrical items.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "The burglaries appear to have been committed during the day or into the evening and are not particularly sophisticated in that the offenders have managed to gain access to the rear of the properties and have either smashed rear windows or forced doors/windows.

"Once inside offenders have targeted jewellery and electrical items. All the offences involve dwellings, which were either unoccupied or the owners being out."

"Any information surrounding these offences or any reports with regard to on-going suspicious activity will be greatly received."

Witnesses are urged to call police on 101.
