Members of Waddington WI celebrated their 70th anniversary by holding a party at Ferrari’s restaurant, near Longridge.
President Vera Snape welcomed members and guest of honour, Edith Weaver, a founder member of WI. Mrs Weaver, together with Margaret Garnet and Margaret Lupton, were each given a plant in recognition of their service to WI over many years.

Member Wendy Rome presented the group with a beautiful birthday card which she had created. David Richardson, husband of member Stephanie Dow, had made and donated a very attractive birthday cake decorated with the WI logo. The cake was cut by Mrs Weaver and Mrs Garnett. Following a delicious meal, members were entertained by the South Pennine Singers who presented a varied and enjoyable of songs from the shows and other light music. Members left the party with a piece of scrumptious cake and happy memories of a wonderful evening!
