THE finalists for the county’s Tourism Superstar award have been announced – and now people are invited to get voting for their favourite.
Part of the Lancashire Tourism Awards, the tourism superstar is a special award for someone who has made an outstanding contribution to the tourist industry.
The shortlist is picked by tourism industry colleagues, but the finalist is decided by a public vote.
This year’s finalists are BBC Radio Lancashire presenter John ‘Gilly’ Gillmore, Tina Midgley – Head Merchandiser for Northern Print Distribution Blackpool; Elaine Smith – the President of Blackpool Civic Trust; Joshua Walker, Fire Beater at Queen Street Mill in Burnley and Michael Williams, Managing Director of Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
Marketing Lancashire has teamed up with us to host of the online public vote.
Votes must be cast by Sunday, October 19. The votes will then be counted and verified, with the overall winner announced at the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2015, held on Thursday, November 5 at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Ruth Connor, Chief Executive of Marketing Lancashire said: “Those who work in the tourism industry are passionate about Lancashire and deliver quality experiences and customer service excellence to our 63 million visitors every year.
“This award aims to make public some of the extraordinary accomplishments made by individuals working in the industry today.
“This year we have an amazing and diverse group of individuals in our shortlist.
“It is now down to a public to pick their winner and we urge them to get behind the finalists and vote for their favourite.”
The shortlist for the other tourism awards was announced last week, and included a huge variety of groups, from large hotels to family-run eateries and a selection of the many music, dance, food, drink and flower festivals that the county boasts.
