Villagers were in uproar again this week after news that their only evening bus service is to be stopped from next Friday, April Fool’s day.
Residents in Sabden staged a protest last week after it was announced that their one and only bus service would be stopped from Sunday, May 1st. So the news that the evening service is to be dropped one month ahead of schedule has left them frustrated and angry. Those frustrations were compounded by the fact that Lancashire County Council is not due to meet to discuss the bus issue until mid June.
One resident said: ”We simply cannot believe that this is happening to us. This is a major village with a large population and we will be cut off.
“People who rely on our bus service are having serious concerns about what is going to happen to them and how they are going to get to school, work and college. It is vital for everyone to make a stand.’’
Transdev announced it was axing the service following the withrawal of subsidies from the county council.
Residents are now being asked to write individual emails in support of the protest to keep their bus on their road. The email addresses are firstname.lastname@example.org and lcc.govservices@lancashire/gov.uk.
