Pendle Road has reopened after a gas explosion in Clitheroe this moning.

Police and crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue attended the scene at 10 am after a gas main ruptured.

Forty homes and businesses were evacuated while emergency services tackled the blaze and cleared the site.

Residents and traders made their way to Pendle Court, Clitheroe, where they were served cups of tea and lunch. The road reopened just after 1-30 pm.
