UPDATE: Body found on track near Clitheroe

A person has died after he was struck by a train in Clitheroe, say police.

Emergency services were called to the track half a mile away from the Low Moor level crossing on Eshton Terraceat around 7.10am on Thursday, April 12.

Police say the person, who is believed to be a teenager, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "We were called to reports of a person struck by a train.

"Ambulance and fire services attended but sadly the male was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We are now working to identify the deceased and inform their family and officers are working to establish the circumstances around his death."

Police confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

National Rail confirmed that trains were normally between Blackburn and Clitheroe at 10am.
