Woman in her 70s dies after 'serious collision' involving HGV in Whalley

Lancashire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a fatal road traffic collision on the A59 at Whalley.
Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a Citroen C3 and a Volvo HGV at around 1.45pm yesterday (Thursday February 20).

Hide AdThe incident happened between Petre roundabout, Langho and Bramley Mead roundabout, Whalley.
The driver of the Citroen C3, a woman in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, also a woman in her 70s, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the HGV was unhurt.
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 1.45pm to a road traffic collision.

Hide Ad"Two air ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, one road ambulance, one community first responder and an advanced paramedic attended the scene.
"One patient was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
"She has serious leg and hand injuries."
The road remained closed until shortly after 10pm while emergency services worked at the scene.
PC Laura Kendall, of Lancashire Police said: “We would like to ask anyone who saw the incident or who caught anything on their dash cam of the incident as it happened to please get in touch with us to help us determined the circumstances around the collision.
“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this sad time.”
Police are appealing for any witnesses – or anyone who has dashcam footage that may assist the investigation – to contact police on 101 quoting log number 0727 of February 20.
