Woman (64) breaks leg in Gisburn car smash

POLIce are appealing for information after a 64-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a broken leg following a car crash near Gisburn.

The accident happened at around 10 a.m. last Wednesday on the A59 just outside Gisburn Business Park. Police had to close one lane of the road for more than an hour while they cleared the wreckage.

The woman, who was driving a BMW car was in a head on collision with a van being driven by a 30-year-old man, who suffered facial injuries and an injured hand.

Both were treated at Airedale General Hospital at Skipton, where the pensioner, who is from Merseyside, but was visiting family in North Yorkshire, was detained for treatment.
