Firefighters tackled a barn blaze at Samlesbury Hall, Ribchester, for three hours last night.

A boiler set on fire inside a barn at the hall at around 8-30pm and crews from Blackburn and Hyndburn, wearing four sets of breathing apparatus, used two hose reels to extinguish the flames.

They had to get to the fire using a triple extension ladder and they also needed two positive ventilation units, a dewalt saw and thermal imaging camera and lighting to bring the fire under control.

Crews were at the scene for three hours.
