Ribble Valley dairy farmers, who may be struggling financially in the current economic downturn, are to be given the chance to look at changing how they manage their business.
The first spring farm walk will be held next Wednesday (April 20th) at Radholme Laund Farm, Whitewell, hosted by Mark Verity.
Organised by the Royal Assocation of British Dairy Farmers, the British Grassland Society and the Agricultural and Horticultural Development Board, Mark will explain how dairy farmers can make more from grass, the cheapest form of forage.
Topics for discussion also include grazing management on a high rainfall hill farm, grassland and soil management and feeding autumn block calving cows. The event begins at 10-30am and pre-registration is essential. This can be done at www.rabdf.co.uk or call 0845 458 2711.
