BOOKWORm Anna Worsley got more than she bargained for when she decided to write a letter to her favourite author.

In March, eight-year-old Anna, who is a pupil at Pendle Primary School, was crowned the Relay Reader for the Month for her excellent review of the book, “Sleepovers”, by children’s author, Jacqueline Wilson.

After reading the book, where the story focuses on five best friends who have sleepover parties for their birthdays, Anna decided to put pen to paper and wrote to Jacqueline explaining how delighted she was to have won the title.

A few weeks later, to her surprise, she received a letter back from Jacqueline commending her on her achievement.

Anna’s proud mum, Susan, said: “Anna was thrilled to bits and we are proud of her. Apparently Jacqueline receives 200 letters a day from her well-wishers so it’s great to see she took time out to reply to Anna.”
