Teen driver admits causing death of his friends in horror smash

Zahid Ali (18), of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, admitted two counts of causing death by dangerous driving at Burnley Crown Court and will be sentenced on August 2nd.

Kaiser Hussain (16) and Sajid Khan (19), also from Accrington, died after the red BMW, driven by Ali, collided with a wall and parked cars in Marsden Road around 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 10th.

Kaiser was pronounced dead at the scene while Sajid died later at Royal Blackburn Hospital. Ali and a third passenger, a 20-year old man also from Accrington, were treated at Royal Blackburn Hospital for their injuries.

The road was closed for six hours as police carried out an investigation and Sgt Steve Wignall said this showed the “heartbreaking consequences” of dangerous driving.

“This was an incredibly tragic incident and my thoughts are with Kaiser and Sajid’s families. Ali’s actions led to the death of two young men who had their whole lives ahead of them.

“This case highlights the heartbreaking consequences of reckless speeding, which played a huge part in this collision, and should serve as a warning to people not to drive in this way.”
