The stars and stripes were flying at Manor House Nursing Home, Chatburn, when staff and residents and staff celebrated American Independence Day on the Fourth of July.

The residents took to heart the American greeting “have a nice day” and the home was trimmed with flags and bunting in red, white and blue to add to the atmosphere.

They sampled foods including hamburgers, hot dogs, key lime pie and, of course, American-style fries. They also enjoyed a quiz, and music played by American artists.
