One small street, with a big heart, is trying to raise money for Ribble Valley Food Bank on Saturday – the same day that Clitheroe Food Festival is taking place.
While all the residents think the idea of the food festival to showcase local produce is a great one, they are also mindful of those who may be going hungry in the local area.
Therefore the households on Cowper Avenue in Clitheroe, which is just off Waddington Road, came up with the idea to hold their very own “Scarecrow Street”.
And on Saturday, as many people make their way to and from the festival in Clitheroe town centre or park at Chester Avenue car park, the “Scarecrows of Cowper” will be out in force.
The Cowper Avenue residents are hoping that donations will be dropped into the collection buckets for the food bank over the course of the day, as people enjoy the festivities, but also spare a thought for those less fortunate than themselves who live locally.
