SIMONSTONE: School’s annual Christmas fair

Step-in WI - The next meeting of Simonstone with Read WI will be held tomorrow in Simonstone Old School at 7-30 p.m. The advertised speaker is unable to attend, but local historian Brian Jeffrey has stepped in to talk about local history. Anyone who has been on one of Brian’s village history walks or seen his presentations in the library will appreciate how interesting this is likely to be.

The competition is for the prettiest Christmas bauble which Brian will judge. There will also be a Christmas stall and mince pies will be sold to help raise funds for Denman College.

There will be no December meeting, the annual party will be held in January. New members welcome.

Christmas fair - There will be a Christmas fair on Saturday in Simonstone Old School from 12 to 4 p.m. There will be stalls, including ones from the WI and NSPCC.

Readstone singers - Readstone Singers are in full swing rehearsals for the scheduled December concerts. The Manchester Carols at Trinity Methodist Church in Clitheroe on the 9th and Prelude to Christmas in Read on the 19th. Rehearsals for the summer concerts start in January, so if interested this is a good time to start.

Festive fair - On Friday, November 25th, St Peter’s Primary School will hold its annual Christmas fair at 3-30 p.m. There will be stalls including chocolate tombola, lucky dip, cake and gift stalls. Proceeds are for school funds and admission is free. Please support this popular event.
