food and drink worth £200 from Asda’s Blackburn store will help keep Scouts from Ribble Valley well fed during their summer camp at Bowley.

Asda gave the East Lancashire Scout Group a £200 gift card to help to buy food and drink for more than 20 Scouts who will attend the camp at Bowley Campsite, near Great Harwood. They will take part in activities including sailing, canoeing, hiking and climbing.

Scout leader John Carysforth, of Clitheroe District Scouts, visited the store to collect the gift card and stock up on products for the seven-day trip.

“We provide the food for the Scouts during the camp, but the deal is that they have to cook it themselves!” said John.

“It was such a massive help for Asda to donate the £200 towards our shopping and we are all very grateful. We will be taking part in a variety of action packed activities so it will be great to be able to finish the day off with some nice food.”

Asda Blackburn store manager, Richard O’mahony added: “It is important for me that Asda Blackburn gives back to the community so when we heard about the Scout camp we were delighted to be able to offer our help.”
