Mr John Dodgson, who died from cancer aged 67 in October, had worked at Walshaw High school and latterly Sir John Thursby Community College for 22 years. Originally from Liverpool, Mr Dodgson moved to Burnley in the 1960s and lived in the Brunshaw area.

The father-of-three was a popular figure at the schools.

Son Steve said: “The bench is a touching tribute. Dad was a big Liverpool football fan and it was lovely to see his colleagues dress in red and white for the funeral.”(s)
