The Duchess of Cambridge went into labour this morning sparking a wave of expectation across the region.

Prince William was by her side in a private wing of St Mary’s Hospital, London, as the world awaited news of the birth of the couple’s first child.

Palace officials announced the news that Kate Middleton was set to give birth naturally in a statement earlier today.
