Festival - The 19th Ribchester Festival of Music and Arts will be held from Thursday, June 23rd, to Sunday, June 26th. As in previous years, it will be based in St Wilfrid’s Church, St Saviour’s Stydd and the village hall.
The festival will be launched by Martin Bussey, festival director, with a short musical event in St Wilfrid’s Church on Friday, at 7-30 p.m. He will introduce the festival programme and will announce when the tickets will go on sale. Directors of the festival invite everyone who may be interested in the concerts to this free event. Afterwards, there will be refreshments in the village hall. If you wish to attend, let Carol Milne know by phoning 012554 878816, as this will help with catering arrangements.
Murder mystery - On Friday, April 1st, in Ribchester Village Hall at 7-30 p.m, the festival directors are sponsoring a dramatic presentation of a murder mystery, where actors from the Ribchester Amateur Theatrical Society present a crime, step by step, and the audience is invited to solve it on the evidence as it is staged. There will be a chance to question the actors between the acts, as if playing the role of Hercule Poirot. Tickets, including food, are £12.50, available from Carol Milne on 01254 878816 or at the door.
RATS - There is also a chance for everyone who has supported Ribchester Amateur Theatrical Society in the past, to take part in a series of play-reading evenings at the homes of members of the society. It is hoped everyone will have fun taking part, as well as it being an incentive to becoming a more active member of RATS. If you are interested in taking part, let Jean Skillbeck (01254 878530) or Sue Cronshaw (878677) hear from you.
Lent and Easter - The programme of events at St Wilfrid’s Church to mark Lent and Easter, which started on Ash Wednesday, has now been published in the parish magazine. Easter cards have been distributed to each household in the village listing services and forthcoming events.
