RIBBLE Valley is the 15th best place to live in the UK, according to users of Channel 4’s property website 4Homes.

It has compiled a list of the top 20 best and worst places to live in the UK to create a “Relocation Relocation” map. It is based on input from visitors to the 4Homes website, which carries information on Channel 4’s range of property-based shows.

According to the list, the best place to live is South Lakeland, followed by a succession of almost exclusively southern English regions before reaching Ribble Valley at number 15.

One of the website users, who rates Ribble Valley as five-star, comments: “Brilliant place, I went to a school in Whalley and it’s so amazingly quiet. Problem? It’s an old person’s village. I mean, sure, you have places like Clitheroe... not really shopping/night out haven though, is it? The bluebell woods, golf courses and sweet, dainty village surroundings are what make this part of the country nice. Not for many people under 40 though.”

Yet for every heaven their is a hell and it seems you don’t have to travel too far from one to reach the other! Coming in at number 11 on the list of the worst places to live in the UK is Blackburn with Darwen, just a stone’s throw from the apparently idyllic Ribble Valley, while Blackpool rates number three on the worst list, again not that far away.
