ARTISTS and art galleries in the Ribble Valley are being invited to apply for membership of an exciting new arts and tourism initiative.
The Ribble Valley Arts Trail, spearheaded by Ribble Valley Borough Council, Revolve Gallery of Clitheroe and Ascot Studios of Ribchester, aims to increase the profile of and create a sustainable future for the borough’s visual arts, artists, public sculptures and art galleries.
The project will entail a dedicated leaflet and website featuring the area’s best artists and arts venues. It is hoped to launch the trail in August 2011.
Coun. Robert Thompson, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council’s community committee, said: “Ribble Valley has some extremely talented artists and outstanding art galleries, whose work will be celebrated and endorsed by this initiative.”
Sophia Smith, of Revolve Gallery, added: “The trail has received financial support from Ribble Valley Borough Council, but its future sustainability will require the support of members.
“We are therefore particularly keen to hear from prospective members, who are willing to support, promote and develop the trail over the coming years.”
Membership of the trail is open to visual arts ventures with a customer-facing function that support original Lancashire art. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 11th, and application packs are available from Sophia Smith at Revolve Gallery on 01200 538499.
