A public meeting will be held in Whalley to discuss the Government’s new Flood Re insurance scheme and what it means for local residents.
Whalley and Billington Flood Action Group (W & B FLAG), who formed after the devastating floods on both December 12th and 26th last year, have arranged the meeting to enable everyone present to gain an improved understanding of insurance schemes that are available.
W & B FLAG have been liaising with Sagar Insurance Brokers, Padiham, and invited specialist insurance industry professionals, including underwriter representation, who will provide an informative presentation and take questions from the floor.
The Flood Re scheme, which aims to provide reasonable policy terms for property owners in flood risk areas, has been largely met with confusion by homeowners, with disappointingly very few polices actually underwritten.
W & B FLAG director Andrew Ronnan said: “I can assure you that there is no hard sell activity on the night in question. The objective of the exercise is to enable everyone present to gain an improved understanding so that reasonable insurance terms can be negotiated in due course whenever policies are due for renewal.”
The meeting will take place on Thursday October 20th at Whalley Primary School. Arrive at 6-45 pm for a prompt 7-15 pm start.
