A public meeting about the proposed redevelopment of Clitheroe market will be staged at Trinity Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 12th.
Organised by Ribble Valley Borough Councillors Ian Brown and Sue Hind, the meeting will be held at the Parson Lane venue at 7-30 pm.
Coun. Brown said: “The people of Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley want to be consulted about the market development and I, with Sue Hind’s support, have been trying to organise a public meeting as I believe the majority want to offer their opinions on such an important issue, therefore my only concern is that the public have a voice.
“It has been suggested that we have a public meeting attended by all Clitheroe councillors of all parties (along with others too) and that is what we intend to do as Sue has already done in her ward of Edisford and Low Moor.”
Coun. Brown added: “In order for the meeting to be most productive the suggested format is to limit speakers to two minutes which should give as many people as possible the chance to contribute.
“Comments will then be forwarded to the council, in particular the working group, so I look forward to welcoming as many residents and organisations on the 12th.”
A Ribble Valley Borough Council spokesman said: “The public meeting at the Trinity Centre is not part of the official council consultation into the proposed redevelopment of Clitheroe Market.
“Details of the official consultation, led by the council’s deputy leader, Terry Hill, and a cross-party working group, will be revealed shortly and members of the public will be welcome to take part.”
