A total of 14 children from Bowland Montessori Pre-school visited Sainsbury’s supermarket in Clitheroe as part of a topic on looking after your teeth.

They were greeted by the manager who explained that dairy products such as cheese and milk contained calcium which is good for strong teeth. When the children left, they were each given an apple and a toothbrush to take home.

As part of the same topic, the children also visited Clitheroe Market. Here, Mr Burney let them try a selection of crunchy fruit and veg from his market stall. Sweety Sue from Huxbury’s sweet stall opposite, explained that sweets were a lovely treat, but brushing teeth regularly was very important to ensure they stayed healthy. With this in mind, she gave each child a lollipop – and a toothbrush.

Holmes Mill gave each child a glass of milk and Clitheroe Hospital dental department provided a box full of dental-themed teaching resources for use during the week.
