Police appeal after Barnoldswick jewellery theft

Police are appealing for witnesses following a house break in Barnoldswick.

The incident happened last Friday, around 1-30 p.m., at an address in Kelbrook Road.

The victim, a woman in her 70s, left her property for a short while and when she returned somebody had entered her home and stolen a quantity of jewellery.

Items taken included a ladies’ wind-up watch with a gold strap and bevelled glass, a gents’ gold chain with an engraved gold disc and a silver chain with a medallion, also engraved.

PC Martin Vernon, from Nelson Police, said: “If anyone was in the area at the time of the offence and saw a red vehicle parked next to West Craven High School in Kelbrook Road, acting suspiciously, please get in touch.

“The burglar was an opportunist and even though the items were of low value, to the victim they were sentimental. I would urge members of the public and shop owners to be on the lookout for people trying to sell this jewellery on.”

Anyone with any information can contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
