Status Quo legend will headline first live show as countdown begins to re-opening of Burnley's cherished theatre

Francis Rossi of Status Quo fame, will play at the Mechanics on Friday, July 16th, and staff are now busy behind the scenes getting the theatre ready for the much anticipated re-opening.

Due to the pandemic, severals planned shows have moved to new dates and some were forced to be cancelled altogether as the artists are away on tours.

But customers have stayed loyal to the Mechanics and the theatre has kept 70% of its tickets sales.

In his show, I Talk Too Much, Francis will share the extraordinary secrets of his 50-plus years in rock and roll

takes to the stage for an intimate evening.

The show will feature Francis sharing some of the best stories ever, accrued during an extraordinary life on the road with the band that sold 120 million records worldwide.

The singer survived the obligatory rock and roll brush with alcohol and drugs, was awarded an OBE in 2010 and has a BRIT for his Outstanding Contribution to Music.

He will be joined on stage by award-winning writer and broadcaster Mick Wall, who has sold more than one million books.

Expect laughter, revelations, tales involving some of the giants of music, exclusive video clips, snatches of classic tunes and a great night out.

The star said: "This show is something new for me. It will be live and unscripted, so god knows what could happen!

"One thing's for sure though, it will be a white-knuckle ride for me, but fans will get a real unvarnished insight into what’s happened over the years.

"I'll be taking a guitar along to demonstrate how some of those Quo classics came into being, and hopefully we will take a few questions from the audience too. It's been quite a journey, there's a lot to share."
