Burnley party business More That Just A Princess, run by self-confessed “big kid” Lauren Saddington, has built a reputation for bringing magic to children’s lives across the county and “making their dreams come true”.

And its latest Hallowe’en show at Poplar Social Club in Accrington last weekend did not disappoint.

This sell-out event returned for its third year running, delivering another weekend of fantastic spooky fun. My son and I were laughing and smiling all afternoon thanks to a mixture of entertainment that was great for all ages, including a spooktacular show led by some of Disney’s best-known villains donned in fabulous costumes from their respective films, including Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmations.

There were traditional party games that took me back to my own childhood, like pass the parcel, musical statues, and musical bumps, and plenty of dancing and sing-a-longs to a family favourite playlist, including The Rocky Horror Show’s Time Warp and the number-one hit theme tune to the Ghostbusters film.

Confetti cannons, ghoulish decor and prizes for the best dressed added to the excitement.

More Than Just a Princess has gone from strength to strength since Lauren set it up around Christmas 2018, just one year before the pandemic, at the age of 21.

When lockdown hit, she took her business online and began hosting live Zoom quizzes for families, with people tuning in from as far as Spain and New York.

Having gained a following among families, Lauren began hosting magical Hallowe’en and Christmas events, as well as hosting unique birthday parties featuring beloved Disney princesses.

And based off last weekend’s event, it was easy to see why parents book the business for their child’s birthday party year after year.

It definitely brought the magic to our Hallowe’en celebrations and has given us some treasured family memories to look back on for years to come.
