Pendle mum of four says losing an incredible 10 stone has 'changed my life'
Mum of four Emma Dyson did not believe she would lose any weight at all when she first joined Slimming World back in October, 2017.
After trying many different diets that had never worked she was reluctant at first, but had to admit the weight had crept on over the years after having her three children.
"I never realised how big I was until I saw photographs of myself," admitted Emma.
As for her lack of success, she couldn't have been more wrong because withiin six months Emma had lost six stone! And even when she fell pregnant she stuck with the plan to keep to a healthy weight for herself and her baby.
But once she had given birth to baby Isaac Emma became caught up with caring for a newborn, plus her three other children, Jacob (12), who has additional needs, and twin girls Isla and Evie who are six.
She ended up putting three stone back on before returning to Slimming World in Barrowford March last year.. just before lockdown!
Emma (33) said: "It couldn't have been a worse time but this time I was determined to get rid of the weight.
"As it happens so often I had neglected myself and was not eating properly because I was so busy with the children, they are my priority.
"But I realised that for me to take care of them I have to be fit and healthy and I had to start taking care of myself.
"It wasn't just about being slim."
Emma, who lives in Nelson, set herself little goals as she went along and losing five and half pounds in her first week back was a real spur.
She said: "I knew I wanted to lose 10 stone but it seemed so overwhelming I had to set myself smaller goals to reach as I went along."
Zoom classes with Slimming World became her lifeline and she religiously checked in every week to chat with consultant Janet Barnes and other members. Swapping recipe ideas for healthy and tasty dishes helped Emma to plan meals she could cook for all the family.
Emma, who has now lost 10 stone and 10lbs, said: "I have to say that without Janet and the other members I would never have done it.
"Their support, encouragement and advice was vital for me.
"Slimming World is not a diet because there are no foods on it you aren't allowed to eat. It's about changing your relationship with food and eating well."
Emma's health has improved after losing so much weight and she has bags more energy to run around with the children.
And no-one could be prouder and more supportive of Emma than her husband Matthew and their children.
Emma said: "The support from my family has been amazing.
"Losing the weight really has changed my life."
