The Trees for Burnley group volunteers planted 21 young Beech trees among a group of old Beech trees on the slopes of Fair Hill above the A646 near Windy Bridge, Cliviger.

Simon Goff, one of the volunteers, said: "The existing Beech trees, which may be up to 200 years old, are an important feature in the landscape at the watershead of the two Calder Rivers and the young trees will ensure that a new generation of trees grows up to replace the geriatric ones.

"Trees for Burnley volunteers enjoyed a morning of hard work, the occasional blustery shower, stunning views and the satisfaction of a job well done!"
