A councillor is asking Ribble Valley folk to come forward and say how they would like Clitheroe Market to be transformed.
Since developers Barnfield Construction launched their multi-millon plans for the future of the market, Clitheroe’s Liberal Democrat councillors have been arguing that there needs to be a wide and meaningful consultation about what local residents want to see on the current market site.
At Ribble Valley Borough Council’s Policy and Finance meeting last month, the consultation period was extended and the “Council’s Market Working Group” was launched, whose members now include Liberal Democratic Leader for the Valley, Coun. Allan Knox.
After that meeting Coun. Knox said: “Clitheroe Market has been around for 800 years.
“That means that it belongs to all 13,000 of us who live in Clitheroe and we all should be entitled to really have a say in its future.
“However, we can only do that if we ask the right questions when we consult.
“That is why I am carrying out this survey.
“When I am representing you at these meetings I want a clear view of what you think.
“So please take a few minutes to fill in the survey, there are nine questions in total so it should only take a few minutes.
“And if you know any friends or relatives who care about the future of the market can you ask them to go to – http://allanknox.mycouncillor.org.uk/clitheroe-market-survey – and fill in the form.
“I want to hear as many views as possible so that I know what people from Clitheroe and the rest of the Ribble Valley really think about the future of the market.”
